A Cheetah Cub Chases a Jackal
Cheetahs have to eat quickly after making a kill. This is because -unlike lions- they cannot fend off
the scavengers like hyenas that soon appear on the scene. Their best chance therefore is to hide the
carcass beneath a bush and then eat it as quickly as they can.
A cheetah with three cubs had hunted a Thomson's Gazelle and she dragged it into a bush to prevent the scavengers seeing it. But it was too late, and a jackal came on the scene. One of the cubs took up the cudgels and decided to chase away the scavenger much larger than himself. He repeatedly chased the jackal till it decided to go away.
An East African safari should be about more than just seeing the wildlife. You should be able to experience it. Watching wildlife interactions is a huge part of a Kenyan conservancy safari that is quite unlike a standard safari.
