The Conservancy Experience

Get the Savannah to Yourself

Kenyan conservancies are a unique private initiative to expand wildlife habitat, in a world where the wilderness is constantly shrinking because of the relentless growth of human population. These conservancies offer the opportunity for a uniquely immersive safari experience very different from that in the national parks. Go off-road on game drives and in open vehicles. See nocturnal animals on a night drive and stretch your legs on an escorted bush walk to experience the savannah from a unique perspective. Most importantly, stay away from the hordes of tourist vehicles in the national parks.

Intimate Tented Camps in Exclusive Conservancies

Immerse yourself in the true essence of the wild with our collection of small, intimate tented camps, featuring 5-12 comfortable tents with attached bathrooms. These camps offer a unique experience, devoid of any fencing, and ensure your safety with dedicated guards accompanying you to and from your tent. Dining is a refined affair, with sit-down meals served in the dining tent, rather than the typical buffet setup.

Our all-inclusive packages encompass not only exquisite meals but also beverages and shared game drives. It’s important to note that due to the lack of fencing, these camps may not be suitable for children under 8. Nevertheless, they provide an authentic and immersive jungle experience.

The true highlight of these camps lies in the exceptional quality of the game drives. Our expert trackers possess an innate ability to locate wildlife, delivering a remarkable wildlife encounter. Additionally, we offer extended game drives at no extra cost, allowing you to witness the captivating activities of the big cats at dusk. Finally you can do a night drive, to see the nocturnal animals that you would never see inside the national parks.

While it’s true that these camps come at a premium, costing 30-50% more than their larger resort counterparts, they offer unparalleled advantages. When you factor in the wildlife experience, and the cost per hour spent on safari, the value is remarkably higher than that of larger resorts. If capturing remarkable wildlife photos is your goal, these camps offer an unbeatable advantage. Discover the unparalleled value and extraordinary experiences that await you.

Large Lodges Inside The National Parks

The large lodges. These typically have 30-50 rooms, large buffet meals, grounds and electrified fences on the perimeter.

These hotels offer game drives too, but usually guests come by road from Nairobi in vans with flip-top roofs provided by the tour operator and do game drives in these vehicles.

Meals are included but you typically have to pay for drinks and game drives (if you want them from the hotel). If you are vegetarian, many of this category of hotels have an Indian vegetarian section. You usually get a two- hour game drive each in the morning and evening. You get good morning drives when the cats are still active but must return before the cats have become active in the evening.
