Which country should I choose for my safari between Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda? Should I cover more than one country?

This really depends on the kind of wildlife you wish to see. While Kenya and Tanzania are well known for all the wildlife you expect to find on the East African savannah- the big cats, elephants and the antelopes- to name just a few, Uganda offers a different experience. It has some of the wildlife you would find in the two other countries but perhaps in smaller numbers and so harder to find. However, it is a primate paradise offering treks to see gorillas and chimpanzees. Since Kenya and Tanzania offer similar wildlife viewing to each other, it does not make sense to cover both the countries on the same trip unless it is longer than 12 days. You could consider choosing between Kenya and Tanzania and then adding on a side trip to Uganda. Kenya has better tourism infrastructure than Tanzania and the distances are shorter. Also, Nairobi is the gateway to East Africa, so international flight costs to Kenya are typically lower than Tanzania. We therefore recommend Kenya to people on their first East African safari. However, Tanzania has much to offer the discerning and repeat safari tourist, venturing outside the well-trodden Northern Circuit, in the form of large parks with plenty of wildlife, that far fewer tourists visit, than in Kenya.
